Enable an easy way to export candidates from BambooHR's ATS into GoodHire's background check process


Enabling the BambooHR integration allows you to quickly and easily export candidates' details into GoodHire, and then easily trigger background reports. GoodHire may then automatically move candidates into "Processing" and "Complete" stages within BambooHR to indicate the report progress.

Requirments:

  1. Existing GoodHire Account
  2. Existing BambooHR Account
  3. Using BambooHR's ATS
  4. A payment method must be saved to your GoodHire account

Enabling the integration

Company Admin Required

Only Company Admin GoodHire users can enable the BambooHR integration


  1. Within GoodHire, navigate to your account settings, select integrations, and click on BambooHR toggle to start the process.
  2. Input your BambooHR subdomain, found within your BambooHR Log in URL.
Please note:

If your BambooHR URL is www.company.bamboohr.com, your subdomain is company

  1. Once your subdomain is provided, you’ll be passed to BambooHR to log in to your BambooHR account.
  2. Once you Log in, you’re passed back to GoodHire to complete your setup.
  3. Set your background screening statuses:
  • Initiate - Used to export a candidate from BambooHR to GoodHire.
  • Pending - Used to indicate that the candidate is currently “Pending” their background check.
  • Completed - Used to indicate that the candidate’s background check has completed.
  1. Set your notification user who will be notified when a background check is ready to be submitted

Placing Orders & Viewing Results

  1. Within BambooHR locate the candidate who is ready to be submitted to the GoodHire integration.
  2. Change the candidate’s status to the “Initiate Background Check” status set in your GoodHire account.
  3. Within 15 minutes the candidate is exported to GoodHire and queued within the customer’s account.
  4. Once exported, GoodHire notifies your specified user set within the customer’s integration settings.
  5. Log in to GoodHire.com, navigate to Queued Results, find the candidate and submit them to a package.
  6. The candidate’s status in BambooHR will update to the “Pending Background Check” status within the customer’s integration settings (optional).
  7. The candidate will be invited via email to provide package information and to e-sign their consent form.
  8. Once GoodHire completes the background check, the customer will be notified via email, and the candidate’s status in BambooHR will update to “Completed Background Check” (optional).
  9. Log in to GoodHire.com and view the results

FAQs

When trying to enter the subdomain, the screen doesn't redirect me

This error occurs when entering a full URL, instead of your subdomain.
Example:

  • URL = https://company.bamboohr.com
  • Subdomain = company
A candidate is in the "Initiate Background Check" stage but is not being exported to GoodHire

If the candidate's job is not marked as "Open" inside BambooHR, the integration will not be able to pull them into GoodHire. Make sure the job is "Open" and leave the candidate in the "Initiate Background Check" stage for at least 15 minutes.

Are background check results available within BambooHR?

No. While report statuses are shown within BambooHR, the results are only within your GoodHire dashboard.

Is the candidate stage changed within BambooHR?

Yes. When the report is processing within GoodHire, the candidate will be moved into the "Pending Background Check - GoodHire" stage. Once the report is complete, the candidate will be moved into the "Completed Background Check - GoodHire" stage.

I’m not able to see the "Queued Results" tab within my GoodHire Dashboard.

Your account must have invoicing enabled to view the "Queued Results" tab.
